Frequently asked questions for PALS:
For the skills testing you may use material but the written exam is not open book
In my opinion yes. Here is why: Pediatrics is a population most providers are not used to, so it brings a set of anxiety because of unfamiliarity. Also, because pediatrics have a range of body weight, they have a range of vital signs, drugs and electrotherapy. That takes extra work to memorize and apply. So, because we are not used to pediatrics and the treatment contains more information, I conclude PALS is harder than ACLS.
They are not. PALS covers a wide range of pediatrics while NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) focuses solely on newborns.
It does not. PALS adds onto BLS. Students are required to already obtain a BLS card (and knowledge) prior to the class.
Yes and No. PALS protocols will manage treatment of a newborn, but a PALS class does not substitute a NRP class.
